Physician Office Practices
Dr. Edward Tenewitz joined Healthmark in November of 2010. He has treated patients in our Emergency Unit, through out-patient surgery and at our Walk-In Clinic, Dr. Tenewitz is a Florida native. He grew up in Tallahassee and attended FSU. He later attended the medical school at University of Florida and completed his surgical residency at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. From there, Dr. Tenewitz returned to Florida and set up a successful private practice in Melbourne, which he continued for 25 years before joining Healthmark. Dr. Tenewitz continues to accept new patients at Healthmark Walk-In Clinic.
Dr. Tom Roberts is a Florida native who grew up in Pace, Florida, in nearby Santa Rosa County. After high school, Roberts attended the University of Florida College of Medicine and earned certification as a physician assistant, or P.A. Dr. Roberts also earned a Bachelor of Science and Medicine degree. Dr. Roberts was an active member of the U.S. Army Reserve. He attended the University of Health Sciences in Antiqua in the Caribbean in 1999 and worked at the Pensacola Naval Hospital and then in medical services at Eglin Air Force Base. Dr. Roberts continues to accept new patients at the Healthmark Walk-In Clinic.
Dr. Mark Hash is a 20-year family practice doctor and surgeon. Dr. Hash graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine. An Army veteran, Dr. Hash was the Airborne Brigade Surgeon when U.S. combat forces landed in Haiti in 1994. Dr. Hash retired from the Army and completed his surgery residency at Wright State University of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio, with more residency practice in occupational and family medicine at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Hash continues to accept new patients at the Healthmark Walk-In Clinic.
Dr. Scott Haufe first came to DeFuniak Springs as a partner at the former MicroSpine medical center and served as the anesthesiologist. Later, Dr. Haufe started a private practice in Destin. In addition to anesthesiology, Dr. Haufe is also board-certified in pain management, as well as in hospice and palliative medicine. He is also certified in addiction medicine. In addition to spinal ailments, Dr. Haufe specializes in treating joint pain, including shoulder, knee and hip problems, as well as migraines, abdominal pains and any other chronic pain. Dr. Haufe continues to accept new patients at the Healthmark Walk-In Clinic.
Healthmark achieves high marks in performance
Healthmark Regional Medical Center recently received excellent ratings for hospital performance and patient satisfaction, according to Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS). Among all similar hospitals, as of March 2014, Healthmark Regional Medical Center (HRMC) in DeFuniak Springs received the second highest ranking in the state. Nationwide, out of 3,974 hospitals, HRMC ranks No. 153.
The HCAHPS survey is the national, standardized, publicly reported survey of patients’ perspectives of hospital care, in conjunction with the federal Department of Health and Human Services Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Patients were also asked to rate the hospital on a scale of 1-10.
According to HCAHPS, the national average is 70 percent. The average for the top 10 percent of high-performing hospitals is 81 percent. Healthmark received a stunning 86 percent rating for hospital performance.
That Healthmark Regional Medical Center received such a superlative ranking is a testimony to the dedication of its physicians, nurses, staff and management to achieving a culture of excellence.
